Root Emotion: Hurt

The gift and burden of the 4 is to carry the most emotional intensity. This same emotion, while stimulating, can also be overwhelming to others. This type has the most intense emotional energy, identifying with the emotions of the whole world. They often wear black, purple, or an unusual green or red (not worn by most other people). Their gift is to feel the highest of the “highs” and the lowest of the “lows,” often being misidentified as bi-polar. Life feels harder to 4s who often feel they are “too much” for others or are misunderstood. They want to be seen as special or unique and dislike in-authenticity in others. On the other hand, 4s long to belong.
